Following the success of The Royston Club's first album achieving 16 on the official album charts, the band are moving into their new era in 2025. The Royston Club, arranged and recorded Songs for the Spine within a year, following a long period of little to no writing whatsoever. The Band recorded Songs for the Spine in, Liverpool’s, Kempston Street Studios with Rich Turvey, "we tried to take the idea of instinctive decision whilst writing into the recording process. We were encouraged and actively forced on occasions by Rich not to record more than a couple takes and not to erase all of the little mistakes in our playing that we used to be so anal about. We also didn’t overdub many things over the main 3/4 instruments so the songs all stayed very live sounding and a lot more raw compared to our previous work."
