Between 1998 and 2002, TISM bass guitarist Jock Cheese developed an compulsion to sitting in cold sterile woodpanelled spaces, semi-staring at a computer screen, with one eye closed and one ear cocked towards the ceiling, whilst
a series of strange men who had an aversion to showering or changing their t-shirt moved sliders up and down a huge metal desk.
Eventually, one of the engineers asked him what the hell he was doing in their recording studio, so Cheese nicked a sheath of lyrics from the backpacks of Ron Hitler-Barassi and Humphrey B Flaubert whilst they were recording
a voiceover for a video clip, whipped up a few melodies, and set about recording them. The results were release on CD as “Platter”.
12 TISM-esque tunes touching on such subjects as the absconding Christopher Skase, the benefits of having two first names, a paeon to Kerry O’Brien, and a prayer to the great rabbit in the sky.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of Platter, finally the album has been released on vinyl.
