Overview

The Sd.Kfz. 251 half-track, nicknamed the "Hanomag", was a key element in the success of the German Blitzkrieg in World War II. As an armoured personnel carrier, it became the reliable "feet" for the Panzergrenadiers, allowing them to keep pace with the advancing tank units. The Ausf.D variant, introduced in 1943, featured a simplified construction to improve productivity, with around 10,000 being produced and used on all fronts until the end of the war.
