Overview

The Aichi M6A1 Seiran was a submarine-launched attack float plane designed specifically for the Imperial Japanese Navy's giant I-400 class submarines. These unique aircraft were designed for a secret mission to conduct a surprise attack on the Panama Canal. In July 1945, they set off for their first mission, but Japan surrendered before the attack could be launched.

This 1/48 scale kit from Tamiya is a detailed replica of this fascinating aircraft. The model accurately captures the Seiran's balanced design and features a detailed cockpit, optional up or down wing flaps, and a full set of accessories to create a diorama. The kit includes two seated crew figures, a ground handling dolly, a crew ladder, and a 800kg bomb.
