Overview

The M10 was the first major American tank destroyer of World War II, developed to provide U.S. forces with a mobile counter to German armour. Based on the reliable M4A2 Sherman chassis, it mounted a powerful 76.2mm (3-inch) gun in a distinctive, open-topped rotating turret. The M10's excellent balance of firepower and mobility made it a valuable and widely used asset for Allied forces from North Africa to the final battles in Western Europe.
