Overview

The Vought F-8 Crusader was a single-engine, supersonic, carrier-based air superiority jet built for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. Serving principally in the Vietnam War, the Crusader gained fame as the "Last of the Gunfighters" because it was the last American fighter designed with guns as its primary weapon. Its combination of speed, agility, and firepower made it a formidable dogfighter.

This 1/72 scale kit from Academy is a detailed replica of the F-8E variant. The model features accurately detailed panel lines and rivets, a precisely detailed cockpit and landing gear, and the option to assemble the distinctive variable-incidence wing and air brake in the open or closed position. Various weaponry is included, along with decals for two U.S. Navy squadrons: VF-162 "The Hunters" and VF-103 "Sluggers".
